Nigel Allcoat, 65, resigned after he faced a probe from one of country's highest judicial bodies for what he describes a "humanitarian act." The JP had offered to pay towards £180 criminal courts charge issued to a penniless asylum seeker who appeared at Leicester Magistrates Court three weeks ago. But he was suspended and faced a full enquiry by the Lord Chancellor's Advisory Committee and has not sat in court since that day. Yesterday (Tue) Mr Allcoat said he decided to put towards the fine from his own pocket as a "pure humanitarian act" to stop the man re-offending.
